I'm sitting here in the mission house in San Lucas finally having the opportunity to sit and journal about my trip. We started out Sunday evening meeting at Church at 11 pm. for our trip to JFK. We arrived at Jfk at 2am ish meeting up with Bill Lutzko as he returned from the first 2 weeks of the trip. We prayed together and checked in at the self serve check-in and sat on the floor to wait. We boarded the plane around 5am. Really feeling the effect of this all nighter fir the first time I can ever remember I found myself drifting off to sleep everytime I closed my eyes. I guess I'm not as young as I once was.
Fast forward 2 plane flights we arrived in Guatemala City at 10:30am On Sunday July 1st (for those who remember .. kinda like a Smonday) Rich was waiting for us and with his loud distinctive whistle we found him, loaded up the van and discovered that we were off to Jason patton's Mission Center right near the airport (so for those from a certain past trip we have gone from Smonday right into If I had a hammer) Back in 2008, FOHM had been able to serve at this mission center with a great deal of frustration and perhaps bad feelings. This year we are planning a mission conference at the end of the trip and have tried to be in contact with the many missionaries and workers down here as possible in order to build a stronger network. So off the Jason's we went. We were able to see much of the work we had started in a more completed stage. Jeff Crean's desk looked great and the fine painting job still glistened. Jason would not allow us to take pictures of the inside of the house... afraid of judgement ? so sorry gang you'll have to come down and see it yourself. If you are wondering the clown head is still across the street.
After leaving Guatemala City we went to San Lucas to pick up Angela and Danielle, who had stayed back to minister at Julio and Jodi's church. So at 1pm, fully expecting the church service to be going on still we drove past the empty church. (shock) and straight to the MH picked up the girls are went to Pollo Campero for chicken and mirinda.
Exhausted we went back and slept for 4 hrs. By 7 we were hungry, so what do you do... order Domino's and have it delivered on a motorcycle. You see.... Don my husband is with me this year. The last time I was here, as I was looking out on the patio of the hotel in Santiago Atitlan, the Lord told I was not to return to this country without my husband. So after 2 years of not being able to go (and believe me that was an inner struggle due to some of the difficult events that have occurred these past 2 years) the Lord had moved Don to come on this trip. (I'll tell you more about that in a latter post) SO!!! of course I want him to experience ALL there is in Guatemala. and I think he is.
